Above, Voigtlander Snapshot-Skopar 25mm mounted to the E-P1 via a M to M4/3 adapter. It gives me the classic 50mm reportage focal length, enough for almost anything for Henri Cartier-Bresson.

Sigma DP1 vs Ricoh GR Digital II Comparision/Review

Both employ fixed focal 28mm.
The difference:

(1) Speed of GRD II's lens is f/2.4, one and half stop faster than DP1's f/4.0 lens.

(2) Construction; GRD is made of Magnesium alloy, crinkle black paint finish. DP1 is aluminum.

(3) Control: No doubt, GRD II has better ergonomics; but DP1 is still very straightforward.
You can perform scale focusing on the DP1, but you cannot do the same on GRD II. The DP1 designer was a professional, and he made the camera for a someone with intimate knowledge of photography. Which is also the reason why there are so many websites on the internet claiming they have no clue how to use the DP1 properly. My advice, alot of wannabe reviewers need to review their basis skills before they pass any judgement on designics.

(4) Image quality: To master the DP1, you must be familiar with raw digital workflow. You should also know how to shoot files optimized for raw processing. If you do not have these skills, the DP1 will give punishing results. Whereas the GRD II can yield some good jpgs.

In every way. the DP1 will give better images. There is no way GRD can put up a fight. Also background separation, brokeh is more pronounced on the DP1.

Addendum (Sep-09)
The new Ricoh GRD III did not surpass the quality of the DP1. The increase in 1/2 stop of speed did not offer enough image improvement.
